Azel is a nobleman of House Velthomer of Grannvale, and the younger half-brother of its Duke Arvis. In Grann 757, he set out to join Sigurd in repelling the Verdane invasion of Grannvale, having heard of the threat to Edain of Yngvi by Verdane forces, along with his best friend, Lex of Dozel.
