Ginko Tsukitsuba is a prodigy samurai who wishes to die a respectable death on the battlefield. In her first battle, however, she failed to find her desired end against the enemy army. Faced with her unfulfilled wish, she now seeks out someone strong enough to grant her an honorable warrior's death.

After praying to Buddha, she unexpectedly finds herself transported to a world of magic and fantasy.

Ginko’s herculean strength is commented on multiple times in the series. Her fights often conclude after a single strike, much to the amazement of other characters. Before transporting to another world, she traveled around Japan defeating numerous warriors, earning herself the nickname “Demon Swordsman”.
