Toshimaru Yoshida is a leading member of the extremist faction of the Chōshū rebels, the Sonno-joi ("Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarians") movement. Yoshida went as far to defy the representative of the Chōshū clan, Katsura Kogoro, who stressed restraint among the Loyalists. Sworn enemy of the Shinsengumi. Teacher of Suzu, who admires him. A dark and cruel bastard.
